PLUS Location Systems Announces the Acquisition of Time Domain’s PLUS® Real Time Location Systems Business Unit

New Company Created to Serve Existing Global Customer Base

Huntsville, Alabama (April 6, 2011) – PLUS Location Systems, a newly formed privately-held company, announced that it has acquired the PLUS business unit from Time Domain, a leader in ultra wideband (UWB) product development. The sale includes the PLUS real time location system (RTLS) product line, intellectual property, and related assets. Additionally, key Time Domain personnel associated with the PLUS product line have also joined the new company. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Former Time Domain executive Paul Smelser will serve as the new company’s president. Smelser said, “This is a unique and exciting situation for PLUS Location Systems. Unlike most new companies, we will begin operations with a mature product line, an established global sales channel, a talented and experienced team, and a debt-free balance sheet. We have all the resources we need to grow the company and continue our roadmap of innovation in the RTLS market space.”

Using UWB technology, PLUS enables enterprises to receive real-time location information on their people and assets at accuracy levels previously unavailable from Wi-Fi or other RTLS technologies.

Rachel Reinhardt, President and CEO of Time Domain, stated, “We are very pleased with this transaction. The buyer recognized the value and growth potential of PLUS and felt strongly enough to purchase the business unit and form a new company to operate it. That is a testament to the quality of the PLUS RTLS business and the team behind it.”
